The Many stages of grief

Today, I miss you — it hit me all of a sudden.

If you were here, I’d tell you something I don’t think I ever said enough:

Reconnecting with you and relocating to Illinois has changed my life in numerous ways.

We didn’t spend a lot of time together over the years, and there were plenty of missed moments between us. But moving here — accepting your invitation — had a profound impact on my life that you may not have realized. And for that, I’m so thankful.

My life is better because I moved out here.

The time we did spend together meant more than just our lunches at Tyroni’s, more than just chatting about computers or cars. It was about connection, healing, and building something real.

I miss your smile — it could light up a room, even if you didn’t realize it.

Your hugs? They were the best. You were like a big teddy bear, and I felt safe in your arms.

Even though I miss you so much, I’m grateful you’re no longer in pain.

Thank you, Dad, for inviting me here. Because of you, I’ve built a life — a family — that amazes me every single day and brings me so much joy.

I love you. And I miss you more than words can say.

Hey!

Welcome to Scott’s Brewed Thoughts, a corner of the internet fueled by caffeine, curiosity, and the occasional midlife epiphany.

Here, I pour out whatever’s percolating — from random observations and life’s distractions to reflections on family, work, technology, and why the Wi-Fi only breaks when you’re on a deadline.

Think of it as your morning coffee with a side of laughter and a sprinkle of “maybe that actually makes sense.”
